Top Ten Tips to Making Money As a Teen

As a teenager myself, i have always been looking to make a bit of extra money on the side. I set up a note-sharing website called GCSE 4 U. In this ezine I will tell you how to make a bit or even a lot of money on the side using methods both online and off. So without further ado, let's begin!
1. I know you have probably heard this a gazillion times, but babysitting is a great way to make a quick buck each week without, lets be honest, too much work. I have friends who make upwards of £100 a week by babysitting their neighbors' children.
2. The second method is probably more enjoyable and entertaining - setting up a business. When many teens hear the word business, their mind automatically jumps to corporate suits and high-flying tycoons. Although you may be able to set up a new Fortune 500 in a matter of months, its very unlikely so its best you don't aim too high when you are starting up. Pick a business that delivers a product which you are fairly knowledgeable about. For example, if you like knitting, you can start selling shirts and jumpers online. Although knitting may not be everyone's cup of tea, the point still stands, never do something you are good at for free. So you've set up your website/business, great! Now all you need to do is spread the word. This is a LOT harder than it seems but once you have sold a few of your items, you can advertise on the local radio station, give out leaflets, put up posters, etc.
3. Never, ever blow your profits on one particular item that you want - this isn't how you make money. Millionaires have attained their enormous wealth by saving not spending, and you should do the same. So the next time you are walking down the high street and you see a gucci handbag or watch that you like, RESTRAIN yourself, once we get something we want, soon after attaining it, it becomes boring and we discard it.
4. Set up a drop shipping website. Dropshipping is the process whereby you find a wholesale dealer who can supply a product that you want for a cheaper than retail price (usually 40-50% lower) and then sell it on your website for £2-3 below retail whilst still making a huge profit. It is usually better to sell on eBay to begin with and then start selling on your website unless of course your website has more traffic than eBay in which case feel free!
5. Manual labor (mowing lawns, selling lemonade, handing out newspapers, etc) I know it sounds tedious but 9 times out of 10, making some money offline is a prerequisite for setting up an online / drop-shipping business. It may make you feel bad to begin with but remind yourself every now and again that it will be over soon and that you will soon be on your way to money and fame.
6. Sell stuff door-to-door, this may seem tedious as you are essentially working for someone else and will spend most of your day selling stuff, but remember in business you never start at the top.
7. If you are exceptionally good at sports or anything really, go to a tournament and try to finish in the top three and gain a monetary reward. If you are good at monopoly got to a monopoly tournament, if you are good at chess got to a chess tournament, the list goes on.
8. If you consider yourself and intellectual and diligent young adult, you can offer tutoring services in your local area. Tutoring pays well and is also a great excuse to network with people who could be of use to you in the future.
9. Sell stuff at your school. This is great as there is a constant demand for sweets and chocolate at nearly every school in the country, nay the world. Buy 50 toblerones at £5 then sell them at 50p each for a grand total of £25 and you will have made a £20 profit. Also if you make your money back and are left with surplus stock, you can eat the remaining chocolate, mmm...free chocolate!
10. Become a freelance journalist, set up your own local newspaper and sell it for 50p a copy, 4 copies a month. After a while you can hire your friends and even teachers to help you write your articles.
