Top 10 Airlines for 2010

Skytrax awards the travelling industry with awards annually, based on the evaluation of surveys of the quality of the services offered to the flyers, who use the airlines for their personal or professional trips around the world.  For the year 2010, the top ten airlines are as follows;
1. Asiana Airlines
Asian airline was established in the year 1988 as South Korea’s airline. In the present times, this airline has up to fifty nine aircraft in its fleet managing hundred destinations across the world. The airline services have been revised from time to time, to offer the best according to the varying needs of the passengers. The options like magic shows and delicacies created by the professionals of the culinary art help Asiana Airlines, out do its competition.
2. Singapore Airlines
When the Singapore Airlines commenced in the year 1947, they were known as the Malayan Airways Limited. The airline now has alliance with the global Star Alliance. The Singapore flight attendant model is the only one to make it to the Madame Tussaud’s Museum in London
3. Qatar Airways
This airline started its flight in the year 1994 and has its headquarters located in Doha. The Qatar Airways is not a part of any global alliance. Though this airline is relatively new, it has not faced any fatal crash in its history of more than a decade of flying.
4. Cathay Pacific
This airline was founded by two former air force pilots in the year 1946. The headquarters for Cathay Pacific is situated in Hong Kong and the airline is a member of Oneworld. In Chinese, Cathay Pacific stands for ‘grand and peaceful state’ while in English it is the older name of China.
5. Air New Zealand
It is an international and domestic airline group providing services not only within New Zealand, but other parts of the world as well. Its aircraft 747-400 is the largest passenger interior volume of any commercial airliner till date. The 747-400 tail height is 19.4 m, equivalent to a six-story building.
6. Etihad
Etihad Airways commenced it services in July 2003, to become the fastest growing airline in the history of commercial aviation. Abu Dhabi is the hub of this airline which features, warmth, generosity and an enriched culture. Etihad Airways received the ‘World’s Leading Airline’ at the World Travel Awards in 2009.
7. Qantas Airlines
Headquarter for this airline is situated in Sydney, Australia. One of the unique attributes that speaks volumes about the safety measures taken by the airline is that, it has not faced any fatal crashes since the 1950’s. Qantas stands for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited. The Qantas airline has a tradition of naming its airplanes, which vary from Southern Boomerang to Hermes.
8. Emirates
With a history of more than two decades, the Emirates has not had any fatal accidents. The Emirates was established by the government of the United Arab Emirates in the year 1985, with its headquarter in Dubai. In the recent times, the Emirates has also diversified its business portfolio, to feature exclusive hotels and spas in Dubai and Australia.
9. Thai
Thai Airways is a member of the global alliance called Star Alliance and started its first flight in the year 1960. Headquarter for this airway is situated in Bangkok. The Thai Airways since its commencement has been working incessantly to provide high quality services to its passengers and is known for crafting innovative deals for offering better value of money to the passengers.
10. Malaysia Airlines
The headquarters for Malaysia Airlines has its hub situated in the Kuala Lumpur. This airline was founded in 1947 and has served the people from all over the world to offer top notch services to maximize their comfort during their travelling regimes. Adhering to its roots, the logo of the airline represents a moon kite, which is one of the country’s national symbols

  1. Skytrax is doing a good job of identifying an airline's weaknesses and strengths. This awarding body certainly brings up the quality of aviation by demanding the companies to meet strict standards for customer satisfaction. I'm sure airlines will have a chance to show off their potential as long as there's an awarding body that takes notice.
